Easter!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend! We sure did here. We had a small family dinner at our house and then did some yard work. Very festive, I know. I thought I would share with you our Easter table!

Notice anything different? How about that table? Yes, I finally tried the Restore on it! It worked so well, I think I’m in love! It did not removed the weird patterned spot, so the table is still not perfect, and probably never will be. But, it is so much better! The Restore really does a great job on scratches and scuffs. Anyways, how about the Easter setting? Jeremy even helped to decorate some eggs! I blew out real eggs so that we can save them for next year!

Here is one of Jeremy and I:

What did you all do for the holiday? 🙂

I have to work on this lovely Saturday, so while I try to fill my time today I am scouring Pinterest. Here are some thing I am loving right now…

As always lately, wedding planning is on my mind, along with rustic home ideas, eclectic living rooms with gorgeous coffee tables, and some organization ideas. Speaking of organization, very soon I will have some projects to show you that deal in that area! 🙂

Inspiration and Big News

July 11, 2011 at 9:22 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

After being out of town, and a little out of touch, most of last week, I am finally catching up.  Reading through a backlog of blogs today I ran across the most gorgeous farm house tour on Apartment Therapy.

The details of this home struck a cord with me, because we happen to have just bought an 1891 farm house.  Yes, one more move!  We close in about two weeks.  We are anxious, nervous, excited, and very busy.  This is the first time I will really be moving away, although not far, just to Iowa.  This is our dream home, and we are very excited to remodel and decorate once there.  Pictures soon to come!

But for now, here are two of my favorite images from Shannan and Cory’s home tour.  Check out the rest here.

I love that light fixture!  And the pillow is gorgeous!  I am so excited to put some of this inspiration to use in the new place!

This was one of my favorite photos because of the crate used to hold towels.  We found an old crate of glass bottles at a garage sale for a few dollars, and had planned to use the bottles as wedding decor.  Little did we realize that the crate had a Tipton, IA business emblem on the side, which is where we later bought the house!  I would love to incorporate our crate in a useful way like this!

Table and Chair Love

December 29, 2010 at 2:38 pm (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

It has been forever and a day since a new post… I know!  But the new house is keeping me busy!

Here is a table and chairs “set” that I love, mostly because it isn’t a set at all.  I like how the chairs are different colors, yet look so good together!

A Bit of Rustic

December 10, 2009 at 11:21 am (Inspiration) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I happened upon this home, home of Danish designer, Henrik Busk, over at Poppytalk today.  I’m really loving the rustic feel of the floors and walls mixed with whites.  My kind of place.

Fancied Up

June 19, 2009 at 8:10 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

We are just about completely ready for the party, but last night decided that the dogs should be clean and pretty too.  After the bathing, brushing, and clipping, we thought Marley would make a pretty girl with red toenails.  Have you ever tried this before?  Yes, I am that cheesey.  She is adorable but, man, was it work! 🙂  Check out our pretty dogs!  And, have a great weekend!

Whats In Store For Next Week

March 20, 2009 at 1:38 pm (Projects) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Over the weekend I have a long list of fun little projects to tackle.  If I get myself into gear and get them done you can plan to see updates next week.  I hope to be working on the kitchen curtains, painting some pots, planting flowers, cleaning up the yard, building a fire pit, and working on redoing a headboard for the master bedroom.  It sounds like a lot, I know, but I think I have most of it covered! And, my favorite little project…

Check out what I do with this ugly little pink basket!

Check back all next week for updates, photos, and how-tos of my many projects!  Have a great weekend!

A New Addition

February 2, 2009 at 9:59 am (Tid Bits) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Well, it has been a busy weekend around our house. Nope, no house projects, no scrap-booking, no treasure hunting. We got a puppy! Yes, we picked out a new little puppy Saturday night. It has been crazy at our house ever since. The dogs seem to get along, but are wild right now. So, I thought I would show you a picture of our cute little girl. She’s 9 weeks old, and she’s a Boxer/Rottweiler mix. I think she is going to be huge! We are considering naming her Wrigley, but let me know if you have any other ideas!

Does she look like a Wrigley? And, did you see all those wrinkles she has to grow into? And the size of those paws!?

P.S.  We are still undecided on a name, but have narrowed it to Wrigley, Marley or Ridley, so let me know what you think!

Scrap-booking Question

January 29, 2009 at 10:32 am (Scrap-booking) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I have been scrap-booking since I was in high school. I love taking photos and loving preserving memories, so this is quickly became one of my favorite hobbies. Due to being extremely busy I quit scrap-booking for a few years almost completely. The other day I found some very adorable paper and was so inspired I have started scrap-booking again full force. (The paper was from Micheal’s, which I recommend!).

I have come across a small problem, however, that I am hoping you out there in the blog world can help me with. My supplies are currently stored in about 4 different boxes. I rummage through the boxes when I am in search of inspiration or the perfect color of paper. The are constantly getting messy and unmanageable. The boxes are not uniform, either, which makes them hard to store. I am such a neat freak that this is really bothering me. I have seen carrying cases for sale that are meant for scrap-booking, but they are ridiculously overpriced!

My dilemma: I am insearch of an affordable, possibly DIY solution to the scrapbooking mess!

Here are just a couple of my unruly boxes of scrapbooking materials. I love the pink box, as it is an oversized gift box from Victoria's Secret, but the heavy materials are starting to demolish the box!

I was thinking that sticker sheets and paper might be categorized and sorted in some sort of accordion type portfolio folder (Wal-Mart even carries on in a black and white damask pattern!). But, the 12′ x12′ sheets of paper might not fit in one of those. What do you think? Suggestions?

Here is a glimpse of the pages I have completed recently. Any page ideas? If you would like help with your scrapbook just drop me a line about that as well! 🙂

P.S. It really is too bad that photos don’t do the details of these pages justice, as some of this paper is really gorgeous up close!

DIY Photobooth

January 16, 2009 at 11:11 am (Wedding Plans) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

My most favorite wedding idea that I have so far is a photobooth at the reception.  I have see this done and it looks like so much fun!  But, renting a photobooth would probably kill our entire budget.  So, I have decided to make my own.  I am going to enlist the handy help of my dad and grandpa in this project, so in order to save them some confusion I made a sketch of what I am imagining.  I am no artist, but here is my idea so far:

I love the idea of guests taking random photos and leavign them for us as a surprise.  Our only real question with this idea is what kind of camera to use.  My fist thought was to use a Polaroid camera.  I am planning on using my Polaroid to photograph guests as they first walk in also.  They can sign these photos to make a unique guest book.  The problem with using the Polaroid for the photobooth is the actual taking of the photos.  Some one would either have to man the station the whole night or you would have to try to do the self-shot, which is rarely good.  I read somewhere that you can set up a digital camera with a cord and button so the people can take their own photos from further away.  Now I seem to be leaning more towards this idea.  Any suggestions?
